We are an non-governmental association, independent, apolitical and non-profit. Our range of activities is mountaineering, climbing and hiking

HISTORY

The group was formed by some of its initial members in the 1980’s. It doesn’t have an official organized structure, leader or statute. The members of the group do not have any obligations, each of them participates voluntarily in the organized trips when they want to. Since the beginning one day a week has been dedicated to a group meeting and this tradition goes on. Every year in the summer almost all of the members take part in a weeklong trip in areas less familiar to them, and every winter they take also a 3 to 5 day-long trip in the Fagaras Mountains.

On May 21st 1998, some members of the group initiated a procedure according to which the group obtained an official status from the Court of Brasov County (no.148 / 17th of September 1998).

OUR MAIN TASKS

The main tasks of Alpin Club Brasov are:

• promoting mountaineering to the youth;

• organizing expeditions in Romania and in other countries in all season;

• preventing accidents related to mountain hiking and climbing;

• organizing First Aid Schools about mountaineering accidents, schools which are led by qualified personnel;

• creating and marking alpine paths;

• repainting existents trail marks;

• building alpine shelters and maintaining them;

• repairing and maintaining the currently alpine shelters;

• protecting the flora, fauna, natural monuments, natural reservations and national parks;

• educating the population about protecting the environment;

• publishing periodical papers describing the accomplishments and the future goals of the club;

• publishing ecological papers, tourist guides and maps;
